Up until 2004, I had always worked for someone else.   I worked hard at making others money.  It had its perks, a steady income, usually some health benefits and paid time off.  What it didn’t have was job security or flexibility to spend time with family.

In August 2003, my second child was born.  After 6 weeks of maternity leave I had to return to work full time and leave my son in someone else’s care.  This was even harder considering that I was exclusively breastfeeding my son.  I was fortunate at the time to have a somewhat understanding boss.  It was still hard to work full time and meet the demands having a family puts on you.  Exhausted beyond reason, I quit my job in April 2004.

We were able to live on one income but eventually I wanted more than just getting by.  And so I began my search for a way to earn an income from home on my time.  In September, my hubby and I were at a Home & Garden Show when we came upon a vendor selling candles.  They smelled wonderful!  I had to buy one.  After some research on the company, I decided to sign on as a Distributor.

In the beginning, I simply thought of this as a “little” home based business.  I shared my products with family and friends.  Some purchased.  Others did not.  Honestly, I didn’t take this business seriously.  Yes I was making some extra money but something was missing.

It wasn’t until October 2007 that I really began to see the bigger picture.   Since then I have been on a quest to find my success.  Now that I have the right mindset.  I am the boss of me!
